I am now beginning to publish my work. The following list includes works published and in preparation:
A.) A 4,500-word essay on Christianity (CSER Review; 2008, vol. 2, no. 1). Title: “What the History of Childhood Reveals about New Testament Origins and the Psychology of Christian Belief.” To download this article, click here.
B.) An invited chapter for an edited volume on violence in the bible (Publisher: T&T Clark, New York; in preparation), edited by Dereck Daschke and D. Andrew Kille. This chapter examines mythic reflections of childhood punishment in the Genesis story of the Fall. Working title: “Adam’s Fall as Image of Childhood Punishment.”
C.) An invited chapter for a volume on the biology of religious behavior (Publisher: Praeger; in preparation), edited by Jay R. Feierman, M.D. This chapter examines how the phenomenon of post-traumatic behavioral repetition might contribute to Christian ritual (sacramental) and ethical behavior. Working title: "Christian Religious Behavior Portrays Cultural Patterns of Childhood Corporal Punishment."
D.) A 14,000-word article on Christianity and a range of non-Christian religions and myths (Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Greek myth). This article is now in final editing before journal submission. Working title: “New Testament Christianity, and Other Religious Traditions, Reflect Historically Widespread Patterns of Childhood Punishment, Coercion, and Abandonment.”
E.) An 85,000-word book manuscript on Christianity, with a substantial epilogue on other religions and myths. Currently editing the manuscript.
F.) Sundry essays, in various stages of preparation, on links between childhood suffering and specific aspects of biblical and post-biblical Christianity, including John 3:16; Paul on sin, law, and death; Augustine's Confessions; Luther on justification; asceticism; and monasticism.
G.) Future projects, which I will undertake as time permits, will include focused works on Islam, Judaism, and other religious/mythic traditions.
